Velma Penn, 75, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023. She was born August 17, 1948, in Henry County, Virginia, to Robert Ramey Penn, Sr. and Pauline Penn Redd.She was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy “Neet” Hairston, Mary “Mae” Deshazo, and Virginia “Gee” Hairston; brother, Raymond “Coonie” Penn; and niece, Jennifer M. Penn.Velma enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching TV, and watching her children.In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sons, Henry Penn (Loretta) and Franklin Penn (Susan); three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Fair Haven Memorial Park with Harvey Penn officiating.Wright Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the family.
