Vera Ellen Dodson

Vera Ellen Dodson of Collinsville, VA passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024. She was born on February 16, 1946 to the late Clearance Young and Thelma Carter Young.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchild, Saige Bowman; and her siblings, Loraine Adams, Geneva Gregory, Clarence Young, Michael Mabe, Dot Goad, and Glee Young.

Vera is survived by her husband of 29 years, James “Jim” Dodson; daughter, Kimberly Newman; (Dennis) grandchild, Justin Bowman; and great-grandchildren, Phoenix Bowman and Braylee Bowman; step-children, Donna Compton (Chris), Marti Nelson (Ricky), Jennifer Kavovit (Andrew), and Jaime Blunt (Chad); grandchildren, Megan Sharpe, Morgan Seline, Taylor Compton, Carly Nelson, Erin Nelson, Kiowa Kavovit, Gracie Nelson, Cash Kavovit, and Penelope Blunt; great-grandchildren, Kyndall Nelson, Peyton Schooler, and Jordan Seline; and siblings, Larry Young, Shirley Foley, and Evelyn Craig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vera was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville. She loved flowers and spent many hours at her passions were Gardening and Sewing. She loved to travel, but even more, she loved to spend time with her family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 27th, at Collins-McKee-Stone, 30 Riverside Drive, Bassett, VA. The family will receive guests 30 minutes prior to the service, from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM.
