Vernie Sexton

Mrs. Vernie Boone Sexton, age 95, of Covington, died Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Bath County Community Hospital, Hot Springs. She was the wife of the late Chester (Flap) Sexton.
Mrs. Sexton was born April 26, 1930 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Jess Boone and Liza Hoke Boone. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. Vernie loved being outside working in her vegetable and flower gardens. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and working puzzles.
Mrs. Sexton is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sexton of Covington; her son, Timothy Sexton and wife, Kathy of Crows; her grandchildren, Katrina (Tyler) Bates of Covington, Jeanne (Brian) Rose of Stuarts Draft; Jeremy (Courtney Paxton) Sexton of Covington, Timothy (Jessica) Sexton of Lexington, SC; her great grandchildren, Leah and Anna Rose, Leland and Lilah Sexton and Emily and Haley Sexton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sexton was preceded in death by her children, Steven, Karen Sue and Diane; her grandson, Jamie; and her siblings, Chester, David, Walter, Kenneth, Marvin, Ethel (Dixon), Virgie (Stone) and Leona Cox.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Sexton was cremated and those that wish to visit with the family are welcome to stop by their homes.
