Vernon Roosevelt Martin, Jr., 65, of Spout Spring, died Monday, January 23, 2023, at his residence.  He was the husband of Cindy Lou Grahn Martin for 20 years.

Born in Lynchburg, March 25, 1957, he was a son of Peggy May Hendricks Routon and the late Vernon Roosevelt Martin, Sr. Vernon served his country in the United States Army.  He was a disabled veteran.  After his military services, Vernon worked in construction in the Central Virginia Area and then worked at Lowes.  Vernon had many friends; he knew no strangers and had a big heart.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Judy M. Sarver of Lynchburg and Patricia M. Shupe and husband, Clark of Evington; one brother, Kenneth A. Routon and wife, Lisbeth of New Orleans, LA; eight nieces and nephews, Angela Critchley, Latasha Ramsey, John Sarver, Tammy Klinger, Beny Routon, Max Routon, Julie Deaton and Jennifer Carter.

To celebrate Vernon’s life, the family will receive friends and family from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home.
