September 25, 1953 – January 3, 2025

Vicki Leigh Garrett Daulton, 71, formerly of Salem, VA, passed away January 3, 2025, at her home in Clayton, NC. She was born September 25, 1953, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Maynard Eldridge Garrett and Joyce West Garrett.

Vicki is survived by her daughters, Carrie Daulton and Brea Hatt (Andrew); and grandchildren, Kylie Hatt, Blakely Hatt, and Beckett Hatt. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Boozie” Wayne Daulton; daughter, Amy Nikole Daulton; and brother, Tommy Garrett.

Vicki held many roles in her lifetime. Her most important role was being a mother to three beautiful daughters, grandmother to three awesome grandchildren, and mother-in-law to a fantastic son-in-law. She was also a second mom to many including Blake Owen and Randy Rich.

One of Vicki’s early passions was coaching rec basketball in the late 80s/early 90s. It was here where she began her role as a pseudo mom to many of her players.

Vicki was an avid fan of UVA attending many sports events with Boozie. She was also very active with the local and state levels of Junior Miss Scholarship Program.

Vicki was a dedicated public servant and very active in many of City of Salem’s committees, including Planning Commission, Fine Arts Commission and a couple of the Greenway committees. She was also the first female chairperson for the City of Salem Planning Commission. She retired from the Planning Commission in May of 2024 to move to North Carolina to be with her two remaining awesome daughters, the best son in law, and amazing grandchildren.

Vicki operated a florist, Pretty Petal Designs, for many years and continued to direct weddings after closing the florist. She later worked for Holiday Inn, Valley View as their sales director until she left to work at Avid Hotel.

A memorial service will be held at John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA on January 24, 2025 from 4-6 pm.
