Vickie Bailey Snider

August 3, 1954 - May 31, 2025

Vickie Lynn Bailey Snider, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on May 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Ripplemead, Virginia. Born on August 3, 1954, in Pearisburg, Virginia, Vickie's life was one of devotion to her family, her work, and her faith, leaving a legacy of love and warm memories.

Vickie's journey began in the small town of Pearisburg, where she was born to Bill Bailey and Beulah McCroskey Bailey. She grew up alongside her siblings, Brenda Whitt and Joyce Purdy, and was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Junior Bailey, and sister, Patricia "Patty" Bailey. Her early years set the foundation for a life filled with compassion, resilience, and a strong sense of community.

For 30 years, Vickie was a dedicated employee of Dining Services at Virginia Tech, where she was known for her exceptional work ethic, kindness, and the ability to make everyone feel at home. Her colleagues and the students she served became an extended family to her, often sharing stories and laughter over meals.

Vickie's heart was always fullest when she was surrounded by her family. Her husband, Winfred "Bobby" Snider Jr., was her partner in every sense, sharing a love that was evident to all who knew them. Together, they raised two daughters, Jennifer Hutchinson (Terry) and Stacy Snider, instilling in them the values of faith, family, and love. Her role as "Nana" to Jaylenn, Jayden, and Devan Snider, and as "Great-Nana" to Allanah King, was one she embraced with joy and pride, always eager to share in their lives and achievements.

A devout member of Riverview Baptist Church, Vickie's faith was a guiding force in her life. She served the church in numerous capacities, teaching Sunday School, caring for the youngest members in the nursery, and contributing to the AWANAs program. Her commitment to her faith community was unwavering, and she found great fulfillment in supporting the spiritual growth of others.

Outside of her work and church activities, Vickie enjoyed simple pleasures. She found serenity in walking, taking in the beauty of nature and the quiet moments of reflection. Watching television provided a source of relaxation and entertainment, allowing her to unwind and stay connected to the stories of the day.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Vickie’s honor and memory to Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad (175 Industrial Park Drive Pearisburg, Virginia 24134) for all of the benevolence shown to the community and those in their care.
