Virginia Gravely

Virginia Gravely, 91, transitioned from this earthly life Friday, May 23, 2025, at Mulberry Creek in Martinsville, Virginia. She was born September 3, 1933, to the late Quincy Flood and Susie Martin Flood Perkins in Rocky Mount, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Clayborn Gravely; sisters, Emily Smith, Norris Flood, Bernice Stockton, Madeline Flood Williamson; and brothers, Ed Flood, Sam Henry Flood, and Jesse Flood.

Virginia worked three years at Stanley Garment as a sewer but spent many years as a caregiver. She loved tending to beautiful flowers in her garden. She will be remembered in the Leatherwood community as a babysitter for all of the children there.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Audrey Gravely, Judy Gravely, Twania Reynold, Marion Hairston; sons, Melvin Gravely, Clayborn Gravely (Cherrion), Garry Gravely; and grandchildren, Tonia Gravely, Quincy Hairston, Jason Gravely (Tiffany), Brian Hairston (Brittney), Trey Gravely, Johnathan Gravely, and Shaniqua Morrison. Although her physical presence will no longer be with us, the legacy of love and kindness she left will long be remembered.

A funeral will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Percy Stocking presiding. Interment will be at Gravely Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel and one hour prior to the service.
