Virginia Louise Rigney Dodson

Virginia Louise Rigney Dodson, 90, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. Virginia was born in Danville, VA on September 1, 1935 to the late Mattie Lou Jefferson Rigney and the late William Leslie Rigney. She is also predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Hugh Archie Dodson.

Virginia was of the Christian Faith and a longtime member of Central Boulevard Church of God. She worked for many years in the spinning room at Dan River Mills Inc., Previous to her retirement. She was a proud 1954 graduate of Callands High School. Virginia very much enjoyed dancing, shopping, decorating, and social gatherings, as well as getting her hair done.

Virginia is survived by a son; Hugh G. Dodson II and special friend Vicky Clayton of Danville, VA; two brothers; Bobby Rigney (Shirley) and Billy Rigney; as well as numerous special nieces and nephews; and two brother in laws; Dennis Hopkins and Reverend Hoyt Stone.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by a brother; Carlton Rigney and a sister; Florence Amos.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Wade Rowland, Pastor John Meadows, and Pastor Jim Spivey officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day just prior to the service from 1-2:00pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
