Virginia Shilling Likens
Virginia Shilling Likens, 96, born March 31, 1927 of Roanoke went home to her Heavenly father on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Edison A. Likens; grandsons, Kevin Mullins and Jeff Smith. She was the last surviving child of William and Cammie Shilling.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Connie Mullins (Bill), Roger Likens (Vicki) and Pam Mullins (Glenn); her grandchildren, Sherry Aldridge (Richard), Suzanne Adams (Ryan), Todd Mullins (Michelle), Meredith Smith, Justin Likens (Dianna); her great-grandchildren, Courtney Corey (Keith), Daniel Aldridge, Brent Smith, Ethan Smith, Jarrett Smith, Andrew Likens, Noah Likens, Caleb Likens, Cataleyah Likens, Katy Adams, Alyssa Adams, Whitney Mullins, Claire Mullins; great-great-grandchildren, Will Corey and Becca Corey; two special friends, Tommy and Joyce Guilliams.
Virginia was a true lady of faith and loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She shared her faith and her testimony with her family, friends, and anyone she met. Her family was her pride and joy, she said each generation grew sweeter and sweeter. She had a special gift with children and young adults, they all gravitated towards her for fun, advice, and much love. She was known to be a little mischievous, especially on our yearly trips to TN with a group of ladies.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Carilion Hospice for their loving care of Mom, especially Megan, Jasmine, Jessee and Kendra, they are like family to us. The family would also like to thank her church family, Pastor Barry Witt, cousins and friends for their prayers and visits.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Garden City Bible Fellowship or a charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 2 to 5 pm at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held 1 pm, Monday, November 27 at Garden City Bible Fellowship, 3504 Bandy Road, Roanoke, Virginia with Pastor Barry Witt and Pastor Justin Likens officiating.
