Wain Roland Cole

Mr. Wain Roland Cole, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday night, December 8, 2024, at his home. Mr. Cole was born March 2, 1942, in Carter County, TN, one of ten children born to the late Floyd Watson and Sevada Miller Cole. Wain retired from Bassett Furniture after 20 years of dedicated service and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He was a gifted and passionate musician whose mastery of stringed instruments touched the hearts of countless listeners. He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Jesse Hicks, Debbie Cole, and Susan Ayers; a stepson and his wife, Emmanuel and Darlene Snow; seven grandchildren, Chandra Stanley, Travis Burch, Bobby Baker, Jonathan Ayers, Jason Ayers, Bradley Baker, and Talisha Delawder; three stepgrandchildren, Sheila Marshall, Brittany Snow, and Ritchie Snow; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Barnett Cole; his second wife, Myrtle Virginia Linville Snow Cole; a daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Brian Johnson; a stepson, Edward Martin Snow; a granddaughter, Robin Johnson; a grandson, Billy Johnson; three sisters, Virginia Cole, Juanita Campbell, and Gaynell Cole; and five brothers, Warren Cole, Floyd Cole, Homer Cole, Willie Cole, and Fleming Cole. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow in the Snow Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
