Walter A. Wood

Walter A. Wood, 94, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024. Walter was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on October 18, 1929 to the late Mary Fannie Inman Wood and the late John Henry Wood.

Walter was of the Christian Faith, and was the owner operator of W.A. Woods General Merchandise previous to his retirement.

Walter is survived by a daughter; Debra Kaye Wood of Danville, VA; a son; Steve Wood of Chatham, VA; a brother; Ronnie Wood of Danville, VA; three grandchildren; J.P. Williams (Megan), Kristopher Stephen Wood, and Lindsay Michelle Wood.

In addition to his parents, Walter is predeceased by two sons; Gary and Ricky Wood; a brother; Henry Wood; and two sisters; Louise Vann and Loraine Anderson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mt. Hermon Fire and Rescue, 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2:30pm at Norris Funeral Services Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Reverend Larry Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:30-2:30pm also at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel
