Walter Allen Barber, 97, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. He was born on April 17, 1928, in Eden, North Carolina, to the late John Barber and Myrtle Sigmon Barber. Walter Barber honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he dedicated many years of hard work to the WM Bassett Furniture Factory. A devoted member of Calvary Christian Church, Walter found joy in fellowship and simple pleasures. He loved spending weekends at the Flea Market, visiting with friends, and often lending a hand selling produce.

Walter cherished time spent at his mountain house, tending to his vegetable garden, and maintaining his yard with care. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating and once worked at Ayers Skating Rink, where he made many fond memories. Today, Walter gave his beloved wife the greatest birthday gift of all — joining her once again in Heaven, together for eternity.
