Wanda Adkins George
Wanda Adkins George, 71, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in her home.
Wanda is predeceased by her loving parents, Roland and Helen George of Chatham, Va, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she is now celebrating with in Heaven. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Brenda George of South Hill, Va; her niece and nephew-in-law Suzanne and Billy Duffy, and her beloved grand-nieces Addison and Reagan Duffy, all of Fair Haven, NJ. She is additionally survived by cousins who were like siblings, great-cousins who were like children and grandchildren. A full extended family that she adored and gushed about with photos and posts to anyone who would listen.
Wanda was born December 12, 1953 in Chatham, Virginia. She graduated Chatham High School and continued on to Elon University where she had a wonderful college experience and developed close friendships with her Sigma Sigma Sigma sisters and many others.
She enjoyed various careers throughout her life, starting in banking, continuing to brands like Rubbermaid and Nabisco, and spending her remaining working years at The Wicker Gallery in Raleigh, NC. Raleigh became her home for nearly 50 years.
Wanda was always the light of the room, the laugh and smile in a conversation. She made everyone feel seen, loved, adored and appreciated. She was always impeccably dressed, no matter the occasion, down to the perfect shoes and jewelry. She always thanked her mother for that fashion sense, and her father for her outgoing personality.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Norris Funeral Service, Chatham Chapel, 147 South Main St Chatham, Va, 12:00 - 1:30pm Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Graveside services will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery, 6405 Callands Road Chatham, Va. with Pastor Terry C. St. John officiating.
