Wanda Jean (Cassell) Atkins

Mrs. Wanda Jean Cassell Atkins, age 78, of Mount Airy entered into the presence of her Savior on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Novant-Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Atkins was born on August 4, 1946, in Surry County to the late Samuel Ellis and Luna Atkins Cassell. Mrs. Atkins was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her four sons and daughters-in-law, David Wayne Atkins and wife Connie, Daryl Junior Atkins, Ellis Daniel Atkins and wife Theresa, James Darren Atkins and wife Wendy; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelby Cassell Sawyers and husband Harvey, Jewel Cassell Hutson, Lavern Cassell Bruner, Aline Cassell Cockerhan; two brothers and sister-in-law, Mac Cassell and wife Joan, Charles Cassell; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Junior Atkins; a grandchild, Steven Austin Atkins; three sisters, Ernestine Cassell Venable, Inez Cassell Hudson, Lena Cassell Tuttle; and a brother, Wayne Cassell. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Garrett Bryant, Brother Jeff Cassell, Reverend Travis Llyod officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Pine Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Siloam. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
