Wanda Jean Moore

January 10, 1942 - July 10, 2025

Wanda Jean Moore returned to her Heavenly home on July 10, 2025. Wanda was a resident of the Pillars in Mankato, Minnesota until her passing. She was a former resident of Daleville, Virginia. Wanda was born January 10, 1942 in Ceylon, Minnesota to parents Harris Lee and Evelyn (Iverson) Holl. She was the oldest of four children. The family farmed near Dolliver, Iowa. At her 8th grade graduation, she was the only student in the graduating class. During her school years she was very involved in 4-H, earning many awards for doing demonstrations in cooking, sewing, and home furnishing. She played basketball for four years in high school and enjoyed watching college basketball and baseball.

After one year of attending Mankato State University studying general education, Wanda married Roger Lindell. From this union they had one son, Brian. After Brian left for college, they were divorced, and Wanda moved to Virginia and married Reginald “Peck” Moore, who later died from cancer. After a period of time, she married Guy Showalter of Clifton Forge Virginia.

Wanda had many jobs over her lifetime including working at an insurance agency, working as a head bank teller and co-owned a hardware store. Wanda had many hobbies like league bowling, softball, card club, crocheting and cross stitching. She volunteered for meals on wheel at her church and Relay for Life. At Easter time she created and sold many hand-crocheted Easter bunny baskets and donated a portion of the funds to Relay for Life. She loved collecting P. Buckley Moss and was a former member of the P. Buckley Moss Society.

Wanda loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always wanted to know what was going on in their lives. She loved their visits and playing card games. She loved going to the Minnesota State Fair with them and sampling all the fair food.

Wanda is survived by her son Brian (Michelle) Lindell, step-daughter Annie Zollinger, grandchildren Amanda (David) Carter, Alicia (David) Debusca, David (Rebecca) Lindell and Michelle (Daren) Griffen and 10 great grandchildren. Sisters Marlys (Will) Saeger, Phyllis (Dean) Haukoos, sister-in-law Sharron Holl, brother-in law Kenneth (Jean) Moore, brother-in-law Marvin (Sue) Moore, sister-in-law Dawn Stetely, and many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was proceeded in death by her parents, her husbands, and brother Norman Holl.

In lieu of flowers donations to Advantage Hospice Providers or the American Cancer Society are preferred.

Services will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 at 12 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. Interment will follow services at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
