Wanda Taylor Mitchell

Wanda Mitchell, 97, of Daleville, VA entered into the arms of Jesus Christ on July 15, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Wanda was born April 17, 1928 in Bluefield, WVA. Her family moved to Roanoke, VA when Wanda was in her early teens. She soon joined the Roanoke Seventh Day Adventist Church and remained a faithful member for the duration of her life. She taught the church kindergarten class for over 20 years. Wanda excelled in her role as homemaker, mother, and loving wife. She was full of life, fun loving, and a great cook. There was no challenge she would not take head on, and succeed at.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, George and Lena Taylor; six brothers and sisters; and her beloved husband of 55 years, Leonard Mitchell.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis Mitchell and his wife, Lea; grandson, Taylor Mitchell and his wife Brandi; great-grandchildren, Austin, Addi, and Aliyah; her favorite niece, Peggy Culpepper; as well as many friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to thank our earth angel, Maryluz, Jennifer, and the staff at Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the loving care they showed Wanda during her extended illness.

A memorial service honoring Wanda’s life will be held at a later date.
