Wayne L. Meador

Wayne L. Meador, age 92 of Rocky Mount passed away Friday, February 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Grace Meador; stepson, Garry Thurman; brothers, Wreford Meador and Bobby Meador (Kim). Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Bernice Meador; step-daughter, Janice Thurman (Jerome Reynolds); grandchildren, Steve English (Julie) and Jennifer Call (Greg Davis); great-grandchildren, Will English, Lili Call, Harmon English and Gary English; step-great-grandchildren, Remington and Christian Davis. Wayne was born in Roanoke and raised by his grandparents, Posey and Layla Harman on their farm near Floyd, VA. He didn’t have much education, but could fix almost anything. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired with 30 plus years of service at J.P. Stevens in Rocky Mount. He was an avid lover of antique cars, NASCAR and professional wrestling. Special thanks to the many caregivers who have stepped in over the past year. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024 with Rev. Will Waller officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
