Wilbur Cross Andrews

Wilbur Cross Andrews, 78, of Salem, Va, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023.  The oldest of 4 children, he was born and raised in Salem and spent the majority of his life there as a true Salemite.  Will graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1962 and then graduated from Roanoke College in 1967 with a financial degree.  He served his country for several years in the Air Force, both domestically and abroad.  

Will was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Moon and Mildred Cross Andrews.  He is survived by his children, Brian (April) Andrews and Amy (Brian) Dexter, his grandchildren, Brian Andrews, Jr., Noah Dexter, and Wyatt Dexter, his siblings, John (Jenny) Andrews, Elizabeth (Ron) Wasem, and Clarke (Sherrie) Andrews, multiple nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Susan Hopkins.

Will was an active member of First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed volunteering throughout the community, especially with the Rotary and the Salem Sports Foundation.  He could often be found at Friday night football games or out and about in town. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Salem, Va. 

The Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (125 W Main Street; Salem, VA 24153) on Friday, February 17, 2023. Visitation with the family will begin at 12 noon with the service to start at 1pm.
