Wilbur Michael Barksdale

January 15, 1937 - March 20, 2024

Wilbur “Mike” Michael Barksdale, age 87, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on January 15, 1937, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Annie Mae Barksdale.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Barbara Cooper Barksdale; children, Michael Barksdale (Karen), David Barksdale (Jennifer), Steven Barksdale (Anais), Melissa Salem (Mike), Jackie Todd (Joey), Jim Graham; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents along with his brother, Doyle Barksdale and his beloved canine companions, Coco, CC and Molly.
A devout man of faith, Mike was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. He and Barbara relocated to Little River in 2021 to enjoy life on the coast with their beloved family. Mike was a proud graduate of Auburn University and a major Auburn Tigers football fan. Mike had a passion for classic cars. He enjoyed restoring them back into pristine condition. He especially loved Corvettes and was a member of the Star City Corvette Club in Roanoke. With a soft spot in his heart for animals, Mike loved his Boykin Spaniels. He was a proud member of the Boykin Spaniel Society. Mike touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A service will also be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in the Abbey at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia with interment to immediately follow.
