William Galloway

February 18, 1938 - June 19, 2025

William Galloway, 87, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born February 18, 1938, in Ridgeway, Virginia to the late Henry “Jude” Galloway and Hallie Sue Price.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam Willie Price, Fred Galloway, Robert Galloway, Charles “Curtis” Galloway; sisters, Brenda Cunningham and Wanda Gayle Galloway.

William proudly served in the United States Air Force for more than thirty years and rose quickly through the ranks. He retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, the highest possible rank attainable for a non-commissioned officer. Only twenty-two percent of enlisted Air Force members ever obtain that rank. During his stellar military career, he also received various awards and citations. After his retirement from the military, William accepted a position with the Lockheed Company in Ontario, Canada. With his wealth of military experience, he became a vital part of their operations.

He leaves behind a wealth of precious memories to be forever cherished by his wife, Carol Howell Galloway; sons, Brian Howell (Posie), Joseph Hairston, and Rodney Galloway (Mia; daughter, Erika Galloway (Andy); brothers, James Galloway (Shirley), Richard Galloway (Brenda), and Harry Galloway (Cheryl); sisters, Frances Stanfield, Carolyn Garnes, and Margaret Pritchett (Chet); grandsons, Joseph Hairston II and Brian William Howell; granddaughters, “Gina” Yamada Hairston, Letrecia Hairston, and Alahna-Noelle Amoah; great-grandsons, Dash Amoah Hairston, Aden Robinson, and great-granddaughter Raegann Bush; sisters-in-law, Ethel Howell and Philisty Price.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025,at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Reverand Carolyn Garnes officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be presented by the Martinsville & Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service.
