William Kouns

William Hobert “Bill” Kouns, Jr., age 99, of 794 Locust Bottom Rd, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Low Moor, Virginia
Bill was born July 8, 1926 in Whitesville, West Virginia to the late William H. Kouns, Sr. and Anna McKnight Kouns. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, and retired from maintenance at the Virginia Department of Transportation. He loved surf fishing, gardening, and chopping wood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Maxine Hannon Kouns; a son, Mark Kouns; two brothers, Haskell Kouns and Theodore Kouns; and a sister, Nora Lona Kouns Bailey.
Bill is survived by two sons Eric Kouns (Shirley) of Columbus, OH and Tim Kouns (Maria) of Hjarup, Sweden; two daughters Kelcy Brewbaker (Stuart) of Lexington and Melissa Black (Gerald) of Clifton Forge; a daughter-in-law, Diane Kouns of Eagle Rock; a brother, Lloyd Lee Kouns of South Charleston, WV; ten grandchildren, Noah Surface, Adam Surface, Heath Kouns, Toby Kouns, Jeremiah Black, Holly Black, Sarah Beth Kouns, Sara Kouns, Carolina Kouns, and Annie Kouns; twenty-two great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, the McCaleb family.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, Eagle Rock with Reverend Mike Rollins officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call anytime at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
