William L. Stewart

Mr. William “Larry” Stewart, age 81 of Bassett, VA left this life peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Larry was born on August 23, 1941 in Henry County, VA to the late Ethel Stewart and the late Abraham Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Wayne Stewart and sister, Mary Wall. Larry was a faithful and active member of Blackberry Baptist Church.

He was a skilled craftsman and a retired manager from American Furniture Company of Martinsville.

Larry was a family man and he loved spending time with his kinfolk. On any given day you could find him piddling in his shed or sitting outside in the sun watching the traffic. He loved going to the beach and he was known to take a drive on a pleasant afternoon just to check out some road work. Larry was methodical and thoughtful and he took his time in life to enjoy things. He had a rare gift where he truly lived in the present and he was always smiling.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife (who he adored) Natalie Anne Stewart, Children: daughter, Brenda Carol Haynes (Todd) of Franklin County and son, Robert Stewart of Roanoke. His sister, Martha S. Bryant (Ronnie) and three grandchildren, Erica Turman (Chase), Kaitlyn Stewart and Zachery Haynes.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Blackberry Baptist Church.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Chad Janey officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Blackberry Baptist Church “Cemetery Fund” 3241 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, VA 24055.
