William Leslie Jones

William Leslie (Les) Jones, 90, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on December 3, 2024.

He was born on January 27,1934 to Owen Joseph Jones and Rebecca Matilda Lesher Jones, both deceased. William was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Helen Ann David Jones; his brother, Howard Jones and wife Lucy; and sister-in-law, Lois Jones. He was very gifted and even built his first home. He worked for Ingersoll-Rand in the Rock Drill Division until his retirement in 1996 and enjoyed his many trips abroad through his employment. William enjoyed boating, wood working, restoring vehicles, and family camping trips.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 30 years, Laura S. Jones; his children, Kathy (Lee) Smith, Dave (Delilah) Jones, and Steve (Cindy) Jones; step children, Karen (Rick) Wheeler, Rhonda (Kevin) Pollard, Cindy Stump (Mike Mills); and Allan Stump; brothers, Earl Jones and Roger (Donna) Jones; sister, Margaret Bennett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Pastor Greg Moser officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park.
