William (Bill) Moncure Dixon entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

He was born on February 26, 1937, in Burkeville in Nottoway County, Va. to the late L. Alvah and Dorothy Dixon. He was also predeceased by a sister, Martha Meadows.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 45 years, Janis; his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Teresa and Jason and Amy; his grandchildren, Joshua Dixon (Amanda), Jordan Cash (Dustin), Joseph Dixon, and Jailyn Dixon; great-grandchildren, Jace Dixon, Lincoln Dixon, Harper Cash, and Piper Cash; his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Billy Booker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deb and Tim Rasnick and Jean and De Gouveia; brothers-in-law, Russ Steele and Jim Cromer and wife, Sharon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill received two master’s degrees with the first being from Virginia Tech and the second from Wake Forest. He went on to study for a PhD from Vanderbilt. Bill was a Baptist Minister and served at Virginia Heights Baptist, Haran Baptist, and Red Hill Baptist. He married countless people and brought even more souls to know and accept Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord and his family with all his heart.

Known for his love of old movies, quirky quotes, and humming the oh so sweet sounds of music gone by— he will be truly missed.

Bill’s wishes were to have his service held privately by his family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
