William "Randy" Randall Ogden

August 12, 1953 - September 30, 2024

William Randall "Randy" Ogden passed away September 30, 2024, in Danville, Virginia. Born August 12, 1953, in Covington, Virginia, Randy was known for his gentle demeanor, soft-spoken nature, and a playful sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.

A graduate of George Wythe High School in Wytheville, Virginia, Randy carried a special love for children and small animals throughout his life, a testament to his kind spirit. He loved to play bingo, work puzzles, and read, with a particular fondness for the Bible and the almanac. He also loved getting mail from family and church friends, and always wanted to be first to the mailbox wherever he lived. Church activities were always central to Randy’s life, and he was a long-standing member of  Presbyterian Church of Radford. He was fond of music, old-time country and gospel were favorites, and liked to watch baseball and football on TV.

Randy is survived by his brother, Michael Wayne Ogden and sister-in-law, Diane Waller Ogden of Lewisville, North Carolina; nephews, Eric Raymond Ogden, Robert Andrew Ogden, and Addison Ogden Gravley; and a special cousin, McKayla Alexandra Hoke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Raymond Ogden, Jr., and Jean Galloway Lotts Ogden, and his sister, Brenda Denise Ogden Gravley.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10 at Alleghany Memorial Park, 7008 Winterberry Avenue, Covington, Virginia, with the Rev. J. K. MacDougall officiating. The family welcomes you to join them for lunch following, details forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Presbyterian Church of Radford or the Danville Area Humane Society in memory of Randy. His legacy of gentleness and kindness will be cherished and remembered by all.
