William Sherwood Davidson

William Sherwood Davidson, age 82, formerly of Chatham, VA, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, while a resident of Roman Eagle Health and Rehab, Danville, VA. Mr. Davidson was born May 8, 1942, in Sandy Level, VA to the late Herndon Waverly Davidson and the late Beulah Watson Davidson. He was married to Betty Owen Davidson, who survives, in 1962.

Mr. Davidson graduated from Climax High School and was a member of New Bethel Brethren Church. He worked for 30 years at Norfolk Southern Railroad as a mechanic, prior to his retirement. William loved anything Dale Earnhardt and Dale, Jr. He had a passion for traveling and flying. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Davidson is survived by a son, Jason Davidson of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Brenda Davis and brother, Ralph Davidson, both of Gretna, VA; nephews, Justin Davidson and John Davidson, and sister-in-law, Susan Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Terry Lynn Davidson and a sister, Charlotte Woodson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff of Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for their kindness and compassionate care.

A visitation of friends will take place Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Chatham Chapel, Chatham, VA. A private interment will take place at a later date.
