Willie Mae Hairston

Willie Mae Hairston, 77, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born February 28, 1947, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Sonny Hairston and Willie Florence Stockton Hairston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Jean Hairston, Mildred Marie Hairston, Barbara Ann Brimmer; and three brothers, Eldridge Leroy Hairston, John Hairston, and Sonny “Moochie” Hairston.

Willie had a deep love for the Lord and strong faith. She was affiliated with Deliverance Faith Temple. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, picking fresh salad, and going for rides. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of more than 30 years, Jill B. Hairston, Jr; three sons, Ernest Hairston (Faye), Antonio Hairston, and Donald Hairston (Tara); three daughters, Loretta Penn (Henry) and Florence Anette Hairston, and LaToya Hairston (Gary); sixteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; and one brother, William Hairston, and a host of other family members and friends.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11:30 AM. The burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. A visitation for the family will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 1331 Hillcrest Avenue Martinsville, Virginia, 24112.
