Wilma Cecil Stacy Martin

May 28, 1938 - August 28, 2023

WILMA CECIL STACY MARTIN, 85, of Mountain Lake, VA, departed this life on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital.  She was born May 28, 1938 in Bluefield, WV, the daughter of the late Ephraim & Minnie Stacy.

Wilma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints, New River Ward. She was a devoted “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who enjoyed gardening and canning.  She was a school bus driver and retired as a custodian for the town of Blacksburg. She was ornery, outspoken and to the point. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. 

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Ephraim Harvey & Minnie Wayne Pauley Stacy, her husband, Marion Dempsey Martin, her son, Tracy Lee Martin, a daughter-in-law, Karen Lopez Martin, her sisters,  Geraldine Stacy, Shirley Stacy Meredith, Frances Junette Dinger, Bobbie Stacy McGhee, and Freda Stacy Coeburn, and her sister-in-law, Velma Meredith.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marion Cecil (Boni) Martin, Stacy Diana Martin, Ephraim Harold Martin and Adam Bartley (Brenda) Martin; her grandchildren, Cecilie Denise Dickerson, Cecilia Dianna Dickerson, Sheena Lee Sirry, Lincoln Taylor Martin, Stacy “Annie” (Ethan) Young, Jonathan Garrett (Bree) Martin, Caleb Bartley (Melissa) Martin, Samantha Belle (Jason) O’Hotto, Andrew Brendan (Melissa) Martin, Mary Catherine Martin, Natalie Brooke (Kyle) Leishman, Rebekkah Benee Martin and  Elizabeth Beatrix Martin; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Howard R. Stacy; her sister, Nancy Carol George, her daughter-in-law, Debra Martin; her brother-in-law, Cantrall Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many special friends.

A graveside service is planned for Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, with her special brother-in-law, Cantrall Martin officiating. 

The family would like to thank the ambulance team who assisted in transporting their mother to the hospital and to the caring nurses and doctors at Princeton Community Hospital for their care during their mother’s time there on Monday. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Wilma’s honor directly to A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, 2508 Walkers Creek Valley Rd., Pearisburg, VA 24134, to help offset funeral expenses.
