Woodrow "Chip" Young

January 21, 1947 - December 6, 2024

Woodrow “Chip” Young, 77, passed away on December 6, 2024.

Chip was born October 21, 1947 to Woodrow H. Young and Virginia M. Young, both deceased. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1972, stationed at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After his military service he graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. Chip enjoyed his work in the banking industry until his retirement from Farm Credit Administration in 2010. Chip was an avid Hokies fan. He was involved with the G Company Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and Fincastle Rifles, sons of Confederate Veterans. Chip loved the outdoors and outdoor activities like gardening, fishing, and hunting. His favorite place to be was the beach in the Outer Banks.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Dorislee Young; daughters, Elizabeth Koren, Laura Henne and husband Mark, Emily Bower and husband Jason; and grandchildren, Miles Henne, Chloe Koren, Ella Henne, Madison Bower, Audrey Koren, and Grayson Bower.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
