Mary Ann Crock

October 12, 1937 - February 11, 2026

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mom, a woman of boundless love and intelligence.

Mary Ann Crock, 88, died February 11, 2026, in Roanoke, VA. She was born in Erie, PA, on October 12, 1937, to Frances F. (Fobes) and Joseph D. Smolinski. She resided in Pennsylvania for most of her life until retiring to Blue Ridge, Virginia with her husband Jack.

Mary Ann accomplished so much, selflessly giving her time and energy to various volunteer activities, her work, and always to her family. Prominently active in the Girl Scouts of America and the Parent Teacher Association, her service and her achievements were attained with dedication, compassion and focused energy on the tasks at hand. Approaching every situation with fairness, strength and a beautiful kindness, she will forever be remembered for her perseverance, humor, curiosity, encouragement, and her steadfast quest for knowledge and education.

A prominent milestone and lifelong goal in Mary Ann’s life was attaining a degree in Nursing, a feat she accomplished in 1987 after raising three children as a graduate of Saint Vincent School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she proudly worked as a Registered Nurse on the urology floor at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA.

Mary Ann’s legacy of fortitude and tenacity also shone through every day to her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who constantly put the needs of others ahead of her own. In her spare time, Mary Ann was also an accomplished seamstress, reader and soap maker. She adored animals and a simple bouquet of flowers. In all things, she radiated love and kindness, sharing her beautiful soul and winning smile with daily strength. We will miss her dearly.

Mary Ann is survived by her children Ann Marie, Kathleen (David), and John (Jenifer); grandchildren Brynn (Justin), John D., Emma K., and Alex (Emma M.); great grandchildren Willa, Hazel, Beau and Felix. She is also survived by “brothers Tom, John and Chet”, as well as several nieces and nephews.
