Irene Hyder Morrell

Irene Hyder Morrell, 87, of Concord passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dayton Eugene Morrell, Sr.
Born in Hampton, TN, on August 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Daunt Hyder and Lucyle McLaughlin Hyder. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
She is survived by two children, Dayton Morrell II and wife, Wendy of Concord and Debbie Maddox and husband Terrell of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Jason Maddox and wife Dawn, Morgan Maddox and wife, Allison, and Brady Morrell; six great-grandchildren, Mason Cole Maddox, Camdon Taylor Maddox, Caraline Hope Maddox, Noah Andrew Maddox, Alexis Marie Hall, and Thomas Carter Payne; and three brothers, Keith Hyder, Bill Hyder and wife, Kathy, and Perry Hyder.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Kenneth, Bennie, Mack, and Daunt, Kyle, Dan, and Allen; and three sisters, Fern Pierce, Coralee Hyder, and Jean Carroll.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Friday, May 22, 2026, at Fairview Christian Church with Pastor Chris Carter and Rev. Richard O’Donnel. Visitation will follow until 1 pm. Burial will be held at 1:30 pm in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.
