Carol Mason Godsey

Carol Mason Godsey, 83, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, July 16, 2026. She was the wife of the late James R. “Jack” Godsey.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on May 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lee Mason and Dollie Trent Mason. Carol graduated from Chowan College and Radiologic Technology school and was employed as a registered x-ray technician in the Lynchburg area for 25 years.
She is survived by a son, Bryan A. Fore of Altavista; several grandchildren; a brother, Thomas L. Mason, Jr. and wife, Mattie of Gladys; special niece and caretaker, Cherie Mason Bentley; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley M. Guy and Sandra M. Gorsline.
A graveside funeral service conducted by Pastor Dan Dibble will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Mt. Olivet UMC Cemetery, 46 Mt. Olivet Church Rd., Lynchburg.
