Earnie William Lucas Jr.

Pastor Earnie William Lucas Jr., 92, of Appomattox, VA, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026, at Runk and Pratt Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Allen Lucas.
Born in Wilson, NC, on February 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Lumiza Bass and Earnie William Lucas, Sr. He was the founder and former pastor of Friendship Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Joyce L. Cooper and husband, Donnie of Spout Spring and Teresa Lynn L. Covington and husband, Mark of Appomattox; three grandsons, Travis Allen Ayers and friend, Kelly McConnell, Christopher Alexander Covington and wife, Amy, and Joshua Daren Covington and wife, Tiffany; and four great-grandchildren, Gunnar Ayers, Sofie Kemmerer, Samuel Covington, and Aurora Covington.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Leigh Falanga; and one brother, Rupert Garland Lucas.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Tom Walker. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
