Adaleen Bryant Horton

June 22, 1939 - April 11, 2026

Adaleen Bryant Horton, 86, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on April 11, 2026.

She was born on June 22, 1939, to the late Walter and Ada Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Horton; her siblings Nina Roberts, Frances Porterfield, Gene Bryant, Chubb Bryant, Gordon Bryant, Bill Bryant, twin brothers Ray and Gray Bryant, baby boy Bryant, and Raymond Bryant.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughters, Sandra “San” Ferris and Kathy “Kat” Horton (Billy Holder); her grandson, William “Justin” Gregory (Nicole); and her treasured great-grandchildren, Kayln Gregory, Kimber Gregory, and Baine Gregory. She is also survived by Clarence Stowe, a special family friend who was like a son; her beloved grand pup, Sandy; and her special niece and her husband, Tammy and Bimbo Graham. In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Adaleen dedicated 43 years of service as a school bus driver with Henry County Public Schools, where she became a familiar and trusted presence in the lives of countless children and families. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched many.

She was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4420 in Sutherlin, Virginia. Adaleen found joy in watching preaching and listening to gospel music on her tablet, and she faithfully attended the annual Dan Ferris Memorial Ride.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Central Boulevard Church of God, 235 Hairston Street, Danville, Virginia, with Pastor Russell Payne officiating, along with Wayburn Mosely and Allen Morris. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, also at the church.

Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Virginia.

Adaleen’s legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew her.
