Aileen Roberta Laprad Sayers 99, of Roanoke, Va. went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, with her two children holding her hands, four days after her birthday. She was born on 03/08/1926 and was the only child of Clarence & Ola Laprad. She was the widow of William (Bill) Sayers. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Gary Fulton and her beloved dog “Buddy.”
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn “Sue” Fulton, of Fincastle, and son Christopher (Chris) Sayers and wife Brenda, of Roanoke. A great-grandson Declan and wife Samantha, two great-great-grandsons, Sutton and Kayce Fulton, Cousin Lois King of Roanoke, several Sayers family members in Dublin and Pulaski Va., and her beloved Cat, Patches “Patchy.”
She was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church, although not able to attend for several years due to her health, she loved her church and enjoyed helping with bible school every summer, in her younger years. She also loved all the cards her church family would send her. Aileen loved working in her beautiful flower beds and just sitting on her front porch enjoying the sun and talking with neighbors. Her Spunkiness and love will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank Brookdale in Salem for all their kindness, and Good Samaritan Hospice on Cove Rd in Roanoke for their outstanding care and compassion. Although she was only there for a short while, the care she received was excellent. Thank you, Loretta, for all you and the staff did in getting her a bed.
