Alene Anderson Tilley

Mrs. Alene Anderson Tilley, age 96, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at her home.  She was born on July 15, 1927, in Surry County to the late William and Cora Banner Payne Anderson.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Shirley Anderson, Pam Goins; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Tilley (Debbie), Rex Tilley, Steve Tilley (Mary Jane), Mark Tilley; ten grandchildren one special grandchild, Jonnathan Goins; eleven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marie Tilley; neighbors, Hurley and Polly Farmer.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Tilley was preceded in death by her husband, Lester General Tilley; daughter, Angel Kaye Tilley Morton; son, Jimmy Tilley; grandchildren, Shane and Roby Goins; great-grandchild, Kristin Goins; sisters, Alma Burris, Alice McCormick; brothers, Chester, Claude, Clyde, Charlie, Joe, and Raymond Anderson, as well as two infant brothers.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Services with service conducted by Rev. Richard Lowman.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the funeral home.
