Alice May Scearce

Alice May Snead Scearce, 84, of Danville, VA passed away Monday, December 4, 2023. Alice was born March 31, 1939, in Rockingham County, NC to the late Posey Snead and the late Mozelle Coward Snead.

Alice was a loving mother and grandmother and she found great joy and fulfilment in helping raise her family. She was a longtime member of Woodberry Hill Baptist Church, having served in many capacities, such as a Trustee and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting, and was a master gardener. After many years of service as RN/BSN Alice retired from Danville Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Pruitt (Ken); sons, Donnie Scearce (Poogie), and Greg Scearce; grandchildren, Jayme Scearce, Rhyan Scearce, Eric Pruitt, and Erin Pruitt; sister, Martha S. Hundley; and brothers, Everette Snead (Sharon), and William “Bill” Snead.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by two brothers, Robert “Bob” Snead, and Jack R. Snead.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 with Pastor Richard Motley officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Roberts-Snead Family Cemetery, 1402 Snead Rd., Stoneville, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Woodberry Hills Baptist Church, 617 Audubon Dr., Danville, VA 24540.
