Andrew Johnson Correll
Andrew Johnson Correll Jr., 84 of Moneta, VA. joined his wife in heaven Wednesday, March 15, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He never knew a stranger and always wanted to lend a helping hand. His journey through life allowed him to touch many hearts. He fought his illness with joy, laughter and love until his body grew too tired to continue the fight. Junior "Pops" retired from Tread Corporation but also worked in Texas at Reed Drill and in Salem at Gardener & Denver. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Shirley Ruth Correll. He also was preceded by his father, Andrew Johnson Correll Sr.; mother, Ruby Jane Correll; brother, Fred Correll; sister, Tilly Gillenwater, and son in law William Thurston Sr. "Billy".He leaves behind his children, Lenn Ellen Thurston, Andrew Correll, Charlotte M. Correll, Charlene C. Wiggs (Brad Wiggs). His grandchildren, Allen Thurston, Christa Thurston, Brandon Wiggs, Bradley Wiggs, Victoria Rogers "Tori" and Addison Wiggs.His great grandchildren, Landon Thurston, Charisma, Zander House, MacKenzie Higgins, Kyle Thurston, Dakota Thurston, Leland Heare and Kayden Thurston. His brothers and sisters, Jane Wheeler, Thurman Correll "Pinky", Betty (Bill Perdue), Darse (Paul Bailey), Henry "Ducky" (Wilda Correll), Linda (Carter McCloud).He lived his life loving every moment with his family that God gave him. He also loved every moment with the family he chose to hold close to his heart. His loving brothers and sisters that he chose to be part of his family.Andy Mitchell, Terry and Lynn Thomas, Bruce and Cathy Cottle, Doug and Patsy Catron and Lake and Vicky Belleisle.Calen Thomas and Hank Thomas, held a special place in his heart as he loved them as he did his own great grandchildren.The family will receive friends Monday, March 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM. at Lotz Vinton Chapel. There will be a funeral service Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Lotz Vinton Chapel with a burial following at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice.
