Andrew Ray Bryant

Mr. Andrew Ray Bryant, age 79, of Elon, formally of Cana, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro. Mr. Bryant was born December 13, 1946, in Carroll County “Coal Creek”, to the late Early Bryant and Margie Galyean Bryant. Ray was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and loved them deeply. He spent many years working as a truck driver for NC Foam. In his free time, he enjoyed sawing wood and playing softball. He was a man who valued hard work, family, and the simple joys of life, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, love for his family, and the hope we have in Christ. Though he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Sandra Parker Bryant; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Bryant Surratt and Todd, Donna Shelton and Tommy, Tammy Thompson and Mike; grandchildren, Ethan Marion, Jared Marion, Kaylyn Maynard, Elizabeth Bohr, Jessica Shelton, Sarah Shockley, Samantha Huffines, Hailee May, Emma Parker, and Christian Easter; great grandchildren, Nichola, Booker, Stetson, Elliette, Miller, Josie, Ollie, Carter, Amelia, and two on the way; sisters, Pat Lane, Nancy Murray. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, with Pastor Thomas Shelton and Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and at other times at Donna Shelton’s home 226 Shelton Road, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Bryant family.
