Anne Bagby Ragsdale Alderson

Anne Bagby Ragsdale Alderson, age 102 entered into rest Thursday, May 8, 2025. Mrs. Alderson was born September 15, 1922 in Chatham, Virginia to the late Madie Giles Ragsdale and the late Charles James Ragsdale. She was married to the late James Edward “Edd” Alderson, who predeceased her in 2017.

She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and was retired from Pittsylvania County Social Services as an adoption coordinator.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Alice A. Owen (Duane) and Judy A. Schweppe; one son, Edward Wingfield Alderson (Lisa); and one granddaughter, Anna Alderson; one niece, Brenda Ragsdale; and three nephews, Ervin Ragsdale, Giles Ragsdale, and Clark Ragsdale.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her two brothers, Robert Ragsdale and C.J. Ragsdale.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 11, 2025, 3:00 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jason Bryant officiating.

The family will receive friends and family at the residence of Mrs. Alderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Concord United Methodist Church building fund or cemetery fund.
