Arbutus "Boots" Boyd Ingram, 96, of Roanoke passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Boots was born on March 29, 1930 to Ted and Gladys Spencer Boyd of Franklin County.
Boots was a member of St. James Episcopal Church for 74 years (since 1952). She served in various positions within the church. She retired after being employed by Double Envelope for 36 years. After retirement, Boots remained active, working part-time at Simpson Funeral Home. She also volunteered at Community Hospital and was involved in many community and civic activities. She loved all animals especially little dogs.
Boots was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Gladys Spencer Boyd; husband, Alexander F. Ingram, Jr.; and daughters, Alelia Ann Ingram and Judy Wagoner Jones.
Surviving is a special daughter, Ann McAlexander-Law, (Jim); grandson, Kevin McAlexander (Mara); special grand dog, Charger; sister-in-law, Bobbie Ingram; nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Odell James; and her church family at St. James Episcopal Church and friends, too numerous to list, that helped her so much through the years.
In lie of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to, St. James Episcopal Church, 4515 Delray Street Roanoke, VA 24012-2209, Roanoke Valley SPCA 1340 Baldwin Street Roanoke, Va. 24012 or the Franklin County YMCA 235 Technology Drive Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. James Episcopal Church 4515 Delray Street by the Rev. Susan Bentley. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
