Arlene Spencer Trent
Arlene Spencer Trent, 86, of Patrick Springs, VA passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Stuart Community Hospital. She was born on January 5, 1940 in Henry County, VA to the late James Daniel Spencer and Theresa Shelton Spencer Craig. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Leonard Trent; son, Ricky L. Trent; sister, Barbara Sturgill; and brothers, Lawrence Spencer (Margaret), and Norman Spencer (Peggy); and step-father, Flem Craig.
She was a faithful member of Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was actively involved in the life of the church and served as a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years and as a faithful member of the Women’s Ministries. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and kindness touched all who knew her.
In her younger years, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and was a talented seamstress. She was also well known for her amazing cooking, even by many travelers from around the country. She also loved singing in the church choir, and with her family, The Singing Trent Family, while creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
She is survived by her one sister, Nadine Thomas; son, Bruce Trent; daughter-in-law, Kathy Trent; grandchildren, Scott Trent, Brian Trent (Ashley), Alex Trent (Julie), and Destiny Trent; her great-grandchildren, Chloe Trent, Chase Trent, and Maverick Trent.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, and other times at the home of Bruce Trent, 898 Dogwood Rd., Stuart, VA 24171. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Samuel Leonard and Dr. David Sparks officiating. Burial will follow the service at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
