Arnold Cereal Sutphin

Arnold Cereal Sutphin, 76, of Christiansburg departed this world to be with his heavenly father on January 4, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ozie Lee Sutphin. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Morris Sutphin, daughter Julia (David) Sutphin Shepherd, Matthews, NC; grandsons, Brayden Shepherd and Parker Shepherd, Matthews, NC; brother and wife, Gary (Carolyn) Sutphin, Christiansburg, VA; sisters-in-law, Karen Hartwell (Canton, GA), and Kathy (Claude) Kelly, Kingsport, TN; nephews, H.R. “Beau” (Lindsey) Hartwell III, Canton, GA and Christopher Sutphin, Christiansburg, VA. Arnold retired from the Virginia Tech College of Architecture in 2008 after 32 years of service. He honorably served in the 4th US Army at Fort Hood, TX. Arnold served as Past Master during his 40-year membership in the McDaniel Lodge No. 86 as well as serving in the Taylor Royal Arch Chapter No. 70 and New River Valley Commandery No. 32. Arnold enjoyed his hobbies of competition archery, hunting with friends and family, and riding his ATV. One of his greatest joys was talking to his grandsons and following their interests and passions. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Peter Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at McCoy Funeral Home.
