Aubrey Ray Hudson
Aubrey Ray Hudson, “The Man, The Myth, The Legend, 73, passed away peacefully at his earthly home in Java on December 14, 2025. Aubrey was born in Halifax, VA, on April 7, 1952, to the late Irma Keesee Hudson and the late Louis Bernard Hudson. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Donna Shelton Hudson.
Aubrey was of the Baptist Faith and a member of County Line Baptist Church, Java, VA. He worked for many years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company before his retirement. Aubrey very much enjoyed groundhog hunting and a good smooth Kentucky bourbon. He had a special love for his family and was especially happy to have lived to see his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Aubrey is survived by a daughter; Heather McDowell and husband Eugene of Vernon Hill, VA; a son; Shawn Patrick Hudson and wife Tammy of Blairs, VA; a sister; Emily Hudson Ragsdale of Chatham, VA; four grandchildren; Hannah Greco (Frank), Holly McDowell White (Austin), Peyton Hudson (Cami); and Kasey Brown (Sam Williams); and 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Aubrey was predeceased by two brothers: Louis D. Hudson and David B. Hudson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA, with Pastor Mike McDowell and Pastor Eddie Collins officiating. A visitation will be held before the service on the same day from 2-3:00 pm, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, at other times at the residence.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
