Audrey Jean Wilson Newman

Audrey Jean Wilson Newman, 95, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. Audrey was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on August 10, 1929 to the late Estelle Virginia Dalton Wilson and the late Albert Lee Wilson. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Harry Thomas Newman.

Audrey was of the Christian Faith and a longtime member of Third Avenue Christian Church in Danville, VA. She was also a active member of Post 325 American Legion Auxillary, where she served in different positions including president. Audrey worked for many years as a nurse at SOVAH Health Hospital, formally Danville Memorial Hospital, in Danville, previous to her retirement.

Audrey is survived by a son; William “Bill” Daniel Glosson of Danville, VA; two daughters; Patsy Glosson Bradford of Pflugerville, TX and JoAnn Grainger (Richard) of Opelika, AL; one step daughter; Brenda Newman Davis of Danville, VA; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and loving husband, Audrey was predeceased by two brothers; Aaron R. Wilson and Adrian T. Wilson; and a step daughter; Sylvia Newman Amico.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00pm at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA. A visitation to receive friends and family will be held on the same day prior to the service from 1-2:00pm, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
