Dwayne Ransom Cole

Dwayne Cole, 65, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born on December 27, 1956, in Fort Sumter, South Carolina to John Ransom and Jetta Reva Cole, he was preceded in death by his father as well as his faithful canine companion, Koda.

Dwayne, with his infectious laugh, was quite the jokester and could pull your leg with the best of them! He greatly enjoyed the big outdoors and camping with his family and was a car aficionado. Music was his heartbeat and he loved slapping his upright bass with his bluegrass band, the Hanging Rock Ramblers, as well as planning and participating in various bluegrass and music festivals. Above all, he adored his family and loved spending time with them.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lynn Cole; daughters, Stacy Cole and wife Bilynda, and Erin Cole; mother, Jetta R. Cole; sister, Darena Wagner and husband, Greg; brothers, Darrian Cole and wife, Nancy, and Dale Cole as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home; a Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Chaplain Ben Mewald officiating.
