Frances "Betty" Nichols Cooper

October 27, 1938 - May 11, 2022

Frances “Betty” N. Cooper, 83 went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2022, on her father’s birthday to whom she was very close. She is preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.
Betty was one of the longest Roanoke County employees and drove a School Bus for well over 50 years and continued as a driver’s aide until her retirement in January 2022. She was also a great storyteller and loved sharing stories and telling everyone what to do and how to do it. The family was number one in her heart. She loved having family dinners and holidays at her house. It was a tight fit at times, but she loved every minute of it. Betty enjoyed baking and even made her daughter’s wedding cakes. She later found a love of gardening and enjoyed spending time in her garden. Another pastime that Betty thoroughly enjoyed was sitting at the very top of the Salem Red Sox baseball stadium for every game she could attend. It was not clear if Betty enjoyed watching the baseball game or people watching more.
Left to cherish in her memory are her 4 children and their spouses. Deana Porterfield, (Brian), Pamela DeHart, (James), Robert Cooper, Jr. (Dreama), Donna Naff (Rick); 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; and many lovely friends.
There will be a private celebration of her life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to the American Cancer Society. www.donate3.cancer.org
