Marguerite Mitchell Rauch-Luzzi

August 24, 1944 - May 24, 2022

Marguerite M. Rauch-Luzzi, age 77, passed away peacefully, with her daughter at her side, on May 24, 2022. She was born August 24, 1944, in Mount Olive, NC to the late Ernest “Shorty” and Katherine (Mountcastle) Mitchell.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her mother and father, her beloved younger sister, Bobby, and her cherished friend, June, along with her first husband, James “Jimmy” Rauch. Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by her dedicated and loving husband of 33 years, David J. Luzzi, her only child, Kristin Rauch McNamara, whose love for her mom is everlasting, son- in-law, Charles “Chuck” McNamara, her beautiful sister, Katherine “Kay” Bunting-Randolph, her grandchildren, Keenan and Abby McNamara, whom she adored; her nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Marguerite was proud of her early years working as an X-ray technician in Hartsville, SC. Once a mother, her knowledge of the stock market and her financial sensibilities provided her with the means to devote her time to her family, fulfilling her desire to care for those she loved.
Marguerite was a talented gardener who created beautiful flower gardens surrounding her home. She loved songbirds and enjoyed watching the birds from her kitchen sunroom. She had the ability to make everyone feel special in her presence with her heartfelt care about their wellbeing and lives. Marguerite looked forward to talking with her friends and family, and she never ended a conversation or a visit without sincerely expressing her love. So generous was Marguerite’s heart that she worried for anyone in need. Throughout her life, Marguerite was devoted to all the people she loved. All who love her will celebrate her life and remember her with deep affection.
The family sincerely thanks the dedicated and caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Carilion Hospital for the gift of comfort and peace during Marguerite’s final journey. A private service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Roanoke, VA. In lieu of flowers, it is the family’s wish for donations to be made to the Dementia Society of America.
