Lisa Buckner Forbes

Beloved wife, mama, and mimi passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4th 2022 surrounded by family. Lisa was 57 years old. She was born on September 28, 1964 and grew up in Sontag, Va. She was a graduate of Franklin County High School class of 1982. Lisa was a kind, loving, and good-hearted woman of God. She always wanted everyone to get along and love everyone unconditionally. She attended Evangelistic House of Prayer in Ferrum, VA. Lisa retired from Lee M. Waid Elementary School with 20 years of service as a custodian. Her greatest joy was spending time with her "babies" Sadie and Lucy. Over the last 10 years, Lisa battled many health issues; she never complained and always fought. "Losing is not an option" and Lisa did not lose - she gained eternity with her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nobie Robertson Johnson; father, William James Buckner; nephew, Joshua Shannon Laury. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jamie Forbes; their children, Ryan Forbes (Holly) and Raven Scott (Patrick); grandbabies, Sadie Forbes and Lucy Scott; mother, Barbara Buckner; sister, Donna Laury (Mike) and twin sister, Lori Toler (Michael); sister-in-law, Melinda Jamison (JE); many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Evangelistic House of Prayer with Pastor Tom Sullivan officiating. Inurnment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
