Walter Andrew Kerr, Sr.

Walter Andrew Kerr Sr. age 94 passed away on November 13, 2022 at his home in Narrows, Virginia. Born on January 10,1928 in Pembroke, VA, he was the son of Thomas Walter and Elmer Cumbee Kerr. He was retired from the Celco Plant in Narrows, Virginia and was also a retired member of the Narrows Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in life by his wife, June Smith Kerr; a great-grandson Parker Gochenour; two brothers, James Kerr, and Bill Kerr; and sisters, Margaret Ann Elio, and Loretta Lindsey.

Survivors include sons, Walter (Teresia) Kerr Jr. of Hagerstown, Maryland, Larry Kerr of Narrows, VA; daughter, Sharon (Bill) Bandy of Pearisburg, VA; six grandchildren, Matthew (Sheri) Kerr, Joshua (Shalisha) Kerr, Adam Kerr, Elizabeth (Tom) Gochenour, James Spicer, Tiffany (James) Helton; 7 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank (Della) Kerr of Newbern, NC, Wayne Kerr, Gary (Shelby) Kerr of Eggleston, VA; sister, Mabel Mahaffey of Mechanicsville, Maryland; brother-in-law, Kenneth Lindsey of Little Creek, VA; and sisters-in-law, Vernie Kerr, Iris Smith, Patsy (Charlie) Vaught, Pat Smith, and Betty Smith.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Birchlawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Birchlawn Burial Park from 11:30 AM until 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of the time he gave may be sent to Narrows Volunteer Fire Department.
